Message	but I would just pull the sucker out and fish for the end piece that falls out -- rather than going through the trouble of dropping pan with the engine in the car. Then just get a replacement dipstick. Who knows, maybe that end piece could get in a spot where you couldn't fish it, and that's not something you want floating around down there.
